Øystein has 40 years experience in the software and technology industry.
As CEO of Visma from 1997 to 2020 he grew revenues from €50m to over €2.5bn and profits to over €500m. Visma’s enterprise value increased from <€50m to >€11billion. He created the largest SMB cloud software business in Europe and the $12.2bn buyout in mid-2020, led by Hg’s Saturn fund, was the largest software buyout ever globally. From 1997 to 2005 Visma was a public company listed on the Oslo stock exchange, when Øystein and Nic Humphries of Hg led the €440m MBO to take Visma private.
Oystein is now Executive Chairman of Visma and an exclusive Industry Advisor to Hg, focused mainly on our Saturn fund. He remains passionate about technology and its positive impact on society and enjoys skiing, cycling and football.
