Mathijs is a Director in the Client Services team and responsible for fundraising and ongoing investor coverage in Europe (incl. UK, Nordics, continental Europe) and Israel.
Since joining Hg in 2014, Mathijs has established a proven fundraising track record across small, mid and large buyout closed-end fundraises, as well as credit. Raising funds in 2017/18, 2020/21, 2022/23 and 2025. Mathijs also has a proven track record in raising semi-liquid/evergreen (HgFusion) funds.
Experience
Before Hg, Mathijs worked for the investment team at Hamilton Lane, investing in private equity funds (buyout, infrastructure, real estate and credit). Dutch by origin, Mathijs moved to the U.S. in 2008 where he double-majored in Economics and Foreign Affairs at the University of Virginia, after which he moved to London where he has worked since 2012.
