James Craig

James is a Principal in Hg’s Saturn team where he focuses on large-cap software and services investments across the broader financial services sector (including fintech and insuretech) as well as the regulatory and compliance sectors.  James works on the Saturn fund’s investments in Howden and Waystone and has also worked on Saturn’s investment in Benevity.

James joined Hg in 2020 from Bain Capital Private Equity where he spent five years as a member of their European deal team.  At Bain he also focused on the technology and financial services sectors, working across all four of Bain Capital’s platform deals in the payments space, including the IPO of Worldpay into the FTSE100 and the IPO of Nets on the Nasdaq Copenhagen.  

James started his career at Bain & Company strategy consulting and has a Master’s Degree in Theoretical Physics from the University of Cambridge.
