Dr. Sebastian Klapdor

Sebastian "Basti" is Hg's Portfolio Chief AI Officer, as part of the firm's Value Creation Team. He works hands-on with management teams to turn AI into real business impact, from AI product strategy and product management to reinventing how companies operate with AI.

Before joining Hg in 2025, Basti spent five years in the operator's seat at Vistaprint, the $2bn e-commerce company, as Chief Data Officer and Chief Technology Officer, building data, AI and product into the core of the business. He started his career at McKinsey & Company, where he was a Partner. Basti is from Germany and holds an MSc and DPhil from Technical University of Munich.
