Another senior appointment to the Services team

HgCapital, the leading European sector-focused private equity investor, today announces it has appointed Andrew Land as a senior member of its Services sector team and a Director of the firm.  This is the third appointment HgCapital has made to its Services team in the last month.

Andrew was formerly a Managing Director with Och-Ziff Capital Management, where he spent six years with responsibility for European private equity investments. Prior to this, he was a Principal with DLJ Merchant Banking Partners (part of the Credit Suisse Group). Andrew graduated from Edinburgh University with an LLB in Law.  He also holds an MBA from INSEAD.

In the last month HgCapital has also appointed Simon Cottle and Thorsten Toepfer as Associate Directors in the Services team.  This takes the team to six investment specialists and makes it one of the largest teams in European Private Equity focused exclusively on investing in the Services space.  This investment reflects HgCapital’s view that pursing targeted investment themes in the services industry should yield substantial opportunities over the coming years.

In the last 18 months, the HgCapital Services team has continued to focus on opportunities in targeted sector themes; leading to new investments in JLA Limited, the UK’s largest commercial laundry services supplier, and ATC Group, the Netherlands-based trust services provider. The team has also recently completed the merger of SHL, the European market leader in objective psychometric testing, with its US equivalent Previsor, to create a global champion within this growing sub-sector.

“Andrew is an exceptionally experienced and highly successful private equity investor.  We are delighted to have attracted someone of his calibre to join the growing Services team.”

Matthew Rourke, Head of HgCapital’s Services Team

“We are building Europe’s leading franchise in specialist segments of the business services sector, Andrew is a great addition to our existing team.”

Nic Humphries, HgCapital’s Chief Executive
