The Hg Portfolio Team is a proven value-creation engine for our management teams and investment colleagues. The Growth Team sits within the Portfolio Team and consists of a deep bench of experts who work collaboratively with portfolio companies to help them achieve their growth ambitions through growth strategy, customer acquisition, customer retention, up/cross-sell and pricing. We are looking for a Pricing & Proposition Specialist to join the Growth Team in our London or Munich office, focused on pricing and proposition engagements but with a broad mandate to be involved across a variety of topline growth projects. This person will deliver material impact to our funds and clients, through projects working directly with management teams as well as portfolio-wide initiatives, working closely with the two current Pricing & Proposition Senior Executives in the team.

Responsibilities:

  • Support existing senior Pricing & Proposition experts with analysis, synthesis, presentation and execution of pricing & proposition projects. It is anticipated that this would quickly transition into owning the day-to-day progress for tactical projects
  • Drive cross-portfolio pricing initiative(s), with oversight and direction from senior Pricing & Proposition experts in the team
  • Feel confident scoping and shaping own work-packages with moderate guidance from senior members of the Growth Team, predominantly focused on identifying and realising pricing & proposition opportunities for companies across the portfolio, e.g. market analysis, competitor analysis, customer analysis, financial modelling
  • Support in the scoping, project management and stakeholder liaison of portfolio companies’ pricing and proposition projects with external consulting firms
  • Support deal teams in conducting analysis & writing up assessments for pricing due diligence workstreams for potential new deals, as well as diagnostics with new investments
  • Build productive relationships with mid-level executives from portfolio companies that inspire trust and enable the candidate to be effective in their role

Experience and knowledge:

  • Strong years experience in a professional services environment working on pricing and proposition projects. Especially in consulting firms specialised in pricing but also potentially in top-tier generalist strategy or management consulting firms
  • Experience working with B2B software and/or services businesses
  • Experience of working and excelling in a high performance, high pace culture and with a hunger to continue to working in this environment
  • May also have some industry experience in a pricing/commercial role, but not essential

  • Excellent academic credentials
  • Ability to prioritise and organise multiple parallel work packages
  • Attention to detail and drive to produce consistent, high quality outputs
  • Ability to 80/20, to work independently and interact confidently with Hg executives
  • Highly proactive – able to lead by example in meeting deadlines, communicating effectively and ensuring processes are adhered to
  • Very strong interpersonal and both written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven hard work ethic, hunger and motivation to succeed
  • Advanced Excel, Advanced PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook

Desirable skills and abilities:

  • Experience with BI / analytics software e.g. Tableau
  • Knowledge of CRM systems
