Boosey & Hawkes is a classical music publisher with the largest catalogue of classical music copyrights of works by composers such as Britten, Prokofieff, Rachmaninoff, Ravel, Shostakovich, Strauss and Stravinsky.
It promotes the music to orchestras, opera and ballet companies, record labels, radio stations, film producers and advertisers. Approximately 75% of revenues are derived from royalties on live performances of copyrighted music.
In 2008 Hg sold the Company to the music publishing fund of Stichting Pensioenfonds ABP (ABP) and CP Masters BV and one of Europe’s leading independent music publishers, for a consideration of approximately £126 million. This investment saw a return of 1.5x on the original investment.
